The Florida Legislature has responded to calls from Floridians to repeal SJR 2788 and remove the phony term limits language from the 2006 ballot! In the final hours of the legislative session lawmakers reconsidered their decision last year to override the 8-year term limit provision in the Florida Constitution. Today's House vote finalizes the process to remove the poorly framed ballot language this fall. It protects the decision made by Floridians fourteen years ago to limit the terms of office for the Legislature to eight consecutive years.

Lawmakers recognized that the vast majority of Floridians oppose extending the terms of office to 12 years and responded to calls made by the public over the last seven days. Be sure to check out how your state senator and state representative voted on this issue!
