Wayne Shepherd: What's unique about The Public Square®?
I'm Wayne Shepherd here with Dave Zanotti of the American Policy Roundtable. One
thing that makes us unique, Dave, is we have a book we turn to, and that book is
the Bible that guides our thinking.
Dave Zanotti: Wayne, the whole concept here is what's a biblical
worldview mean and how does it apply to the issues of the day. And there is no
issue bigger or more important or more life changing than healthcare. So in
the
longer format conversation we had with our whole team we brought in, which
we've put online, we brought several pastors in the room to talk about what a
pastor is supposed to about this. Here's healthcare that's going to apply to
every member of my congregation, very serious serious subject. Should pastor
just duck this one or should they get involved?
WS: A lot of pastors, a lot of churches are reticent about
getting involved in issues like this, but we need everyone don't we.
DZ: One of the fears involved is that we just don't know enough
so maybe you'll say something and then be embarrassed because you don't have the
facts. And the truth of the matter is, this issue, while the bill is
massively complicated, that in and of itself is the first point of defense. Do
we really need one more, extremely complicated federal program? Another thing
that comes up is people say what about the uninsured, what about the places
where there are holes? We talk about all of that stuff and better alternatives
than a federal takeover.
So I
think anyone can listen to these programs and have a pretty solid defense as to
why they don't want this idea to go forward.
WS: The long weekly edition of The Public Square®,
if it's not heard in your area, as Dave said, you can always go online,
it's archived right here,
along with past programs as well. We'll continue talking about this proposed
nationalized healthcare this week on The Public Square®. For
Dave Zanotti, I'm Wayne Shepherd see you next time on The Public Square®.
