Wayne Shepherd
Wayne Shepherd: The push is on in Washington, D.C. Welcome to The
Public Square® with Dave Zanotti of The American Policy Roundtable. I'm Wayne
Shepherd. And Dave, this is coming at us fast.
Dave Zanotti: Wayne, this is bad and it could get really dangerous.
Congress is taking direct orders from the White House, and trying to jam 1,000
page healthcare bill down everybody's throats. Nobody has time to print
the bill, let along read it, study it, or ask questions to debate it. This
is a measure that will change every single life in the United States, other than
members of Congress of course, because they're going to be exempt from the plan.
Yet the President will not permit members the opportunity to read the bill.
He's executing his will through the Democrat Speaker of the House and the Senate
President. Now here's the question we've all got to ask; regardless of your
political party or who you did vote for or didn't vote for, who you like or who
you don't like, if this federal healthcare bill is such a good idea, why such a
hurry?
WS: Yeah.
DZ: Since the Democrats have total control of the House and
Senate, why rush the process without giving an honest time for debate? If there
is nothing to hide, why hide it? Wayne, we've seen this before back in 1994.
Radical advocates for nationalized healthcare tried every trick in the book to
try and keep their plan in the dark. It didn't work then, and I sure pray
it doesn't work today.
WS: Dave it's happening so fast. What can we do?
DZ: First we've got to pray that the truth will come out. Next, I urge
everyone to call their members of Congress and urge them not to vote on a single
page of the healthcare plan until they have read and debated every page.
WS: I agree. I've done it. And I hope you have too. Join us next time
for The Public Square®.
