Home Schooling: Does It Work?
The source is Investors Business Daily. The subject is home schooling. The study involves the standardized test scores of over 20,000 home-schooled American children. The headline reads "Home Schoolers lap the field."
The Research from the University of Maryland reveals that home-schooled children do well; in fact, very well. They score in the 75 percentile compared to public schools and in the 65th percentile compared to private schools. What that means is home schoolers outscore 75 percent of public school students and 65 percent of private school students on comparative tests.
By his own admission, professor Lawrence Runder of Maryland found the research results "very surprising".
Are you surprised? Have you ever considered home schooling? Do you know someone who does it? Have you wondered if, just maybe, they were doing the right thing for their kids?
