Ohio Supreme Court Grants Temporary Dismissal of Roundtable Suit
October 06 2009

Rob Walgate, 440-572-1796

Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio Roundtable recently filed for a voluntary dismissal of the lawsuit filed against Governor Strickland's order to install slot machines at Ohio. Today the Court granted that dismissal based on the prior ruling subjecting the Governor's plan to the referendum process. This prior order freezes all legal challenges by changing the effective date of the law and postponing any implementation until the referendum process is completed. The Roundtable intends to re-file the suit against the Governor’s plan as soon as the referendum process is resolved.

The Roundtable has helped lead successful campaigns against expanded gambling in Ohio in 1990, 1996, 2006 and 2008. The Ohio Roundtable, a division of the American Policy Roundtable, is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy organization founded in 1980.
