Ohio already has an Ethnic Intimidation law in code. HB 277 introduced by extremist liberal Columbus Democrat, Otto Beatty (614) 466-5343 , seeks to amend and expand that law. The law currently includes race, color, religion or national origin. Beatty’s bill expands the law to include, gender, disability, sexual orientation and/or ancestry.

This is the first time a law has been introduced to protect a self destructive aberrant behavior, i.e.; sexual orientation/homosexuality. Thousands are leaving the homosexual lifestyle and according to Dr. D. James Kennedy, “I believe there more ex-homosexuals than there are practicing homosexuals in America today.” One of those ex-gays is PRO-FAMILY NETWORK founder Gregory Quinlan. Churches and Pro-Family organizations like Pro-Family Network, American Family Association, Reclaiming America for Christ, etc., can be fined and jailed for commenting against homosexuality defining these comments and actions as “domestic terrorism” making it a felony.

The bill introduction reads “ To amend sections 2927.12, 2929.02,2929.022,2929.03,2929.06, 2929.14,2929.18, 2929.21, 2929.31, and 2967.13 and to enact sections 2929.07 and 2941.1411 of the Revised Code to broaden the scope of ethnic intimidation, to designate ethnic intimidation by an organization as the offense of “domestic terrorism,” and to enhance the penalty for an offense if the offender purposely selects the person or property that is the subject of the offense because of a person’s race, color, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry.” The bill is 40 pages.

HATE CRIMES ARE THOUGHT CRIMES. Hate crimes are not necessary! When an individual commits an act of violence, vandalism or takes or harms the life of another, a crime is committed. The emotions of hate that may or may not lead to an act of violence or vandalism is not punishable by law nor should they be. Only the actions, not the thought or emotions can be made a crime. Mr. Beatty’s “Thought Police” bill actually extends special rights for homosexuals. Homosexuality is not genetic. There is no evidence that supports that claim. The much touted Simon LeVay brain studies (thymus gland) have never been successfully duplicated and were refuted by Dr. LeVay before his own death from AIDS. Yet homosexual groups continue to falsely use his work as proven irrefutable science. There are no reputable studies that conclude a genetic link to homosexual behavior. NONE. Quoting Dr. Jeffery Satinover, M.D. in his essay ‘The Gay Gene,’ regarding scientific proof of homosexuality; “There is not any, and none of the research itself claims there is; only the press and, sadly, certain researchers do-when speaking in sound bites to the public.” Therefore to protect this behavior in law is bad public policy for the State of Ohio and dangerous for Ohio’s families.

ACTION: This bill has written is unacceptable. PRO-FAMILY NETWORK believes that this bill infringes on the free speech rights of Ohio citizens. HB277 infringes on the ability of Christian churches to obey God and speak against the SIN of homosexuality. This law infringes on groups like Exodus International, P-Fox (Parents and Friends Of X-Gays), Living Free, Prodigal and other reparative therapy groups to help the homosexual change their behavior has the Holy Scriptures proclaim. In fact PRO-FAMILY NETWORK believes this bill makes it a crime to help the homosexual leave this very dangerous self-destructive lifestyle.
