Ohio Roundtable and other Plaintiffs File
Preliminary Injunction in suit challenging Lottery Expansion

Columbus, Ohio - Today plaintiffs in the suit challenging Powerball expansion filed a motion for preliminary injunction asking the Franklin County Court to stop any further implementation of a multi-state lottery expansion.

David Zanotti, President of the Ohio Roundtable described the action, stating:

"The issues remain the same. The General Assembly and the Governor walked over the clear language of Ohio's Constitution in passing the Powerball legislation. HB 405 is a blatant defiance of amendments passed by the voters to limit the nature of state-sponsored gambling in Ohio and the way the money is spent. HB 405 is a clear violation of the single-issue rule for legislation. The measure is a clear attempt to defy the law and feed the Legislature's growing addiction to gambling revenues."

The plaintiffs also intend to seek depositions from leading state officials and Lottery Commission executives as part of the unfolding legal action. Plaintiffs include The Ohio Roundtable and its President, the United Methodist Church and John Edgar, Gambling Task Force Director for the Ohio Methodist Church, and several Ohioans whose lives have been directly impacted by legalized gambling.
