• Texas is unique.  The mandate for HPV vaccinations has been through Exec. Order RP65 by Gov. Perry on February 2, 2007. http://www.governor.state.tx.us/divisions/press/exorders/rp65  No legislative involvement – No public hearings.  There are three pending bills intended to overturn Gov. Perry’s executive order.  There are two additional bills intended to codify the requirement.

•New Jersey is worth noting. Both bills specifically disallow exemptions for moral / philosophical reasons and extend the requirement to all female students in grades 7 – 12.

•Michigan has the only bill pending that describes an OPT IN, instead of an opt out for parental authority.

• GlaxoSmithKline has submitted its Biologics License Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for Cervarix (an additional HPV vaccine) on 3/29/07. Approval is expected between Oct. 2007 and Jan. 2008.
